Kubo and the Two Strings is an epic, mythical adventure that is willing to go into deep themes and dark imagery. The movie combines CGI and stop-motion animations. The result is very creative, out-of-the box and stylish. Kubo is truly a piece of art and might be the best thing Laika brought us.

Boy and the World may seem as a simple animated movie, but it doesn't take long to discover it's a colorful, stylish, complex, handcrafted Brazilian animated adventure. The movie is without dialog, but it doesn't need any words to tell it's beautiful story of a boy traveling to the city to find his father and reunite his family. Boy and the world manages to capture the wonder and uncertainty of childhood while dealing with heavy themes as industrialisation, urbanisation and social inequality. I urge everybody to watch it! This is a must-see for children and adults.

Director: Don Bluth | Stars: Dom DeLuise, Christopher Plummer, Erica Yohn, Nehemiah Persoff
Votes: 51,600 | Gross: $47.48M
In my opinion underrated, but I guess this is one of my childhood favourites. I watched this over and over again and still love it. Bluth's Disney-like (and that's not a bad thing IMO) animations are a real treat, but a bit dark. Not every song is as good as the main song; "Somewhere out there" but their still enjoyable. The story, perhaps inspired bij Art Spiegelman's MAUS, about a Russian Jewish mouse family that seek new live in New York is really moving. A must-watch for every kid and adult.
